Lutherdale Lifeguard (Lakefront) – Summer Camp
Position: Lifeguard (Lakefront)
Location: Lutherdale Camp & Retreat Center – Elkhorn, WI
Employment Type: Seasonal, Summer
Reports to: Waterfront Director
Dates of Work: June to September 2025
Position Overview
Lutherdale is seeking responsible and enthusiastic lifeguards to ensure a safe and fun waterfront experience for campers of all ages. As a lakefront lifeguard, you will supervise swimming, boating, and waterfront activities, ensuring camper safety while fostering a welcoming and encouraging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain constant surveillance of campers and staff during lakefront activities, including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
- Enforce all waterfront safety rules and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, providing first aid, CPR, and water rescues as needed.
- Conduct regular safety checks of waterfront equipment, docks, and boats to ensure proper function.
- Assist in daily waterfront setup, cleanup, and organization.
- Engage with campers in a positive and encouraging manner, promoting confidence and skill-building in the water.
Support the overall camp program by participating in staff meetings, camp-wide activities, and occasional non-waterfront duties.

Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent required) or willingness to obtain at Lutherdale.
CPR & First Aid Certification (must be current through the summer season)
Strong swimming ability and comfort in open-water settings.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly in emergency situations.
Team-oriented, with strong communication and leadership skills.
Previous experience lifeguarding or working in a camp setting is a plus.
