Milwaukee County Parks is looking for strong swimmers who are passionate about serving their community and keeping the public safe. As respected community role models, our lifeguards serve over 100,000 visitors per summer.
The skills you acquire while working as a Milwaukee County Parks Lifeguard are the building blocks for any future career endeavors. Among the qualities you will develop are good communication skills, working cooperatively with a diverse group of co-workers and patrons, and a responsible attitude. Many MCLC alumni use their experience and skills to pursue careers in the medical field, police, fire, military, and more.
The first step to becoming a lifeguard is to register for FREE In-Water training. Applications are not collected until training is complete.
Get trained over Winter Break! We're offering a training session geared specifically for college students, January 6th - 10th, 10:30am - 1pm.
Pay & Benefits
$17.13/hour for first year
up to $500 in bonuses
up to 40/hours of work per week
First Responder training by Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management
Social/competitive events, for example, Lifeguard Games, in which lifeguards compete with their crews in individual and group events at Bradford Beach

Requirements
Requirements
Must complete Milwaukee County Lifeguard Corps Training Program. Training is FREE and sessions begin January 6th. Red Cross certifications are not accepted for employment with Milwaukee County Parks
Must be at least 16 years of age by July 1st, 2025
Must be able to swim 100 meters in 1 minute and 45 seconds or less
Must be in good physical condition
Must have generally open availability between Memorial Day and Labor Day
